Title: October 2020 - Tin Toy Adventure
Post by: NinjaKat on October 10, 2020, 09:14:25 am
AGA Game of the Month for October, 2020, is Tin Toy Adventure!

The House of Fun is no fun anymore. An evil clown used a magic spell to bring the house into his possession; including all of its inhabitants. The only one spared is the tin man who now has to travel through the side-scrolling levels in order to fight the clown. This game offers the standard platforming action: jumping to avoid falling in holes and touching enemies - if not successful in the latter task, the energy bar decreases which eventually leads to death. However, the player character is not defenseless: he can shoot little sparks at the enemies and he has four spells to his disposal. The latter are basically power-ups which can be activated at will: creating a temporary platform under his feet, floating, invulnerability and a smart bomb. All those spells are limited regarding the number of usages, but refills can be collected during the levels. A boss awaits shortly before each level exit.

had a quick bash at this last night, some serious slowdown when there's more than one enemy - often when there's only one and you are firing. apart from that shame it doesn't support the CD32 pad for jumping.

might have another go before eom but so far not a big fan.

Just tried now and got 22150 on my cd32.

Looks great but slows down so much, even with a 50Mhz 030. Must be pretty poor programming, or the slave needs updating to work properly.

be interesting to know if it's the WHDLoad version doing this as I'm also on an 030.

Maybe we could try it off a CD, surely it didn't ship this way?

Yeah slowed down a couple of times but was still playable on my A1200, actually quite a good game!
Just a tip if you are going for the high score - have your camera/phone ready for the screenshot! After game over it does not seem to show your score ever again!  I got a few hundred more than this screenshot, but the screenshot is essential for your entry, so here is my official: 81525.

yeah that's quite annoying!

Might have to set up a tripod recording the action for this one, just to be able to get a score screenshot. Seems like a lot of effort though  :D

Thanks for having a go this month to those that posted.
Don't forget, for your score to count, we require a screenshot of your score (if a high score game), or a screenshot of you playing the game (if you are posting a review).
