Title: Amiga audio sampling retrospective on Youtube
Post by: Heywood on February 08, 2020, 11:30:46 pm
Starting with Amiga Samplers : Budget dance music in 1990 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i9MXYZh1jcs) and then currently at Amiga Samplers (technical) - FutureSound / Master Sound / Stereo Master (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5gTWf6IGCJM) with more to come,  cTrix/debuglive is doing a great job talking about the hardware and software of the time (and giving a bit of a demo)

I remember back in the day I wanted a fancy GVP DSS8+ but had to do with my AMAS sampler and had fun/wasted many hours with the thing.

I think slapping a sampler together should be a pretty straight forward activity - just need to confirm what the typical software expects (I'm assuming that the S/W just smacks the strobe line when it wants the next sample?)

That's a great a video. Really informative and technical. Puts many video on YouTube to shame! cTrix is a nice guy too, if you're able to get to one of the scene events around Australia.

I think every sampler had its own approach, perhaps some were similar. Would you be planning to write your own software too?
