Crazy Ebay prices Amiga stuff for sale
« on: December 17, 2019, 09:38:03 am »
Hi All,

Feels right that I should start a new topic for people to post crazy Ebay prices for Amiga stuff.

It amazes me the ridiculous prices some Amiga things are sold for on Ebay.

Exhibit 1 - Floppy drive for AUD$1060:

https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Commodore-Amiga-CDTV-Floppy-DISK-DRIVE-CD-1411-OVP-BOXED-funktioniert-WORKS/254186024307?hash=item3b2eaaed73:g:018AAOSwLnBX47k-

Please post any other crazy Ebay prices here!

That CD32 expansion is especially crazy!

Who'd buy that when you can get a TF expansion....but then again it does have that sexy backplate... :o

Add Amiga to the ebay title for an item that might be otherwise innocuous component e.g. gotek, compact flash card, pcmcia card, GBS8200 etc and bump up the price.

I guess you pay for the convenience of knowing that it should work on your system but still it can be a bit of a hefty finders fee if that's what it is

I think as time goes on, and the Amiga gets older, and they become true classics, and now with the cheap upgrades available (Terriblefire products!), the demand for Amiga's will go up, and so will the value.

I looked back at an Ebay auction I won in 2010 for an Amiga 2000 with keyboard, in beauuuutiful condition.... $100.

I sold it a couple of years later for $120.

It was immaculate  :'(

I just brought an A500 off ebay quite a good price but then I thought dam what am I going to run it from because my 1084 monitor has been sitting in the garage for years and we don't have any old analogue tv's in the house so I thought I would get a GBS8220 converter but it needs a DB23 female plug and I looked every where and the only ones I could find were overseas and their wanting upwards of $30 for a $3 part

Cut down a 25.. not too tricky.. I am sure someone has published a guide!

I bought a pre-built external scan doubler some years ago and thats all it has! is a modified 25 - you would not know until you look hard at it!

Just saw a 1084 go for over $500. Yikes.

Paying $200 to repair one of mine doesn't seem like such as over-spend any more...

In that case I mite get my 1084s that's been sitting in the garage and get someone to check it over I do know the on/off switch at the back needs fixing and on a side the post just dropped off the A500 I brought on ebay THAT I thought was a good price for an A500 but I didn't take into account the postage from UK nearly as much as I paid for the 500 so it turned out a bit expensive but it's in good condition and in original box with all manuals and extras
