X5000 owners in Australia
« on: December 04, 2019, 08:21:42 pm »

As an AmigaOne X5000 owner myself, I am keen to discuss more about a currently available NG Amiga platform available for purchase in 2019, running the latest (still in active development) AmigaOS4.1 Final Edition Update 1.

https://amigax1000.blogspot.com/2018/09/my-amigaone-x5000-has-arrived.html

There is lots of interesting software out there for the system so it would be great to discuss it in more detail!
Here are some things I have looked at this year on my blog:

https://amigax1000.blogspot.com/2019/02/prototype-game-on-amigaone-x5000.html

https://amigax1000.blogspot.com/2019/02/amicygnix-14-on-amigaone-x5000.html

https://amigax1000.blogspot.com/2019/07/blastaway-preview-on-x5000.html

For those who are thinking about getting an X5000 I recommend it! It is a very interesting system and introduces modern native graphics card and OpenGL ES2 support functionality to AmigaOS4, with more coming!

Amistore is an App Store for AmigaOS4 that allows you to purchase new productivity and game software for your X5000!

I know this sounds like an ad but I promise I get no commission or anything! I am just excited about NG Amiga and the future of AmigaOS4!

I hope to see lots of people take the plunge!

I am interested to find out how many X5000 owners we might have in Australia! Please let me know!

Catcha,
Epsilon

Hi Epsilon,

Tony Wyatt (on the OS4 development team) is an owner and he is based in Sydney. He is on the SAUG mailing list. I used to be involved in OS4 development too, and I was a big supporter of NG Amigas. I never got on board with the A-EON hardware though because I couldn't justify the expense anymore after owning an AmigaONE SE, then an AmigaONE XE and also a SAM460 (I still own those boards apart from the SE).

It's great to see that there are some local X5000 owners, I wasn't sure if there were any left (apart from Tony)!

Hi all,

Not been on the forum for ages, but it's a slow work day :) One of my NY resolutions is to become more active on the forum and BBS etc.

I have an Amiga X5000, purchased from a local member here in Brisbane.

I agree, it's a great machine, I use it from time to time but an updated web browser with the latest security certificates prevents from using it full-time as a desktop replacement.

I really enjoyed playing Tower 57 and a few other games on the platform. I don't use it for 68k software as I prefer the original hardware.
